Touch-typing

Posted by Proottalfain - August 30th, 2009

I want to make my typing faster and more efficient so I'm currently learning touch-typing. So far I'm around 22 words per minute which I consider to be quite slow. My speed is higher when using my usual three fingers per hand technique, but that's because I've gotten used to it. With touch-typing I'll get to type faster and without looking at the keyboard, which will be quite advantageous. This news post serves as a practice for touch-typing so if you've read it so far and are tired you may stop reading. I already started learning this technique but quit because I instinctively went back to my old technique. It's hard to not go back to it because it's faster, but I must keep on so that in the end I reach a much faster speed. That's it for now I might add more to this news post if I feel like it.

Interesting, I have never heard that term before. Anyway, I shall do the same as you! I'm writing slow as hell right now. Stupid keyboard... :P

I personally have a great software to practice my typing, perhaps you should look into that. My software is in French so I don't think you'd use it.

Nah, my French isn't that good lol. I just downloaded some program called Klavaro which seems good. Just out of curiosity, what's the name of the program you're using?

Tap'Touche 5.

my brother is a fuckin bullie1

Turn his testicles into ovaries then.

No actually don't do that he'll get so angry he'll tear your face apart.

Is that like using home-row and stuffs? asdf jkl;

yeah, but actually I use awefjio; as home-rows, it's more comfortable, more ergonomic.

That feels weird! But only because I'm used to the way I've been doing it for the past ten years.

I've been using an improper technique for too long. Both your and mine arrangements are fine, but yours is more standard whereas mine is more ergonomic.

I think the world record for fastest wpm was 300 or so words per minute, so you're going to have to work fast if you want to break it.

Luckily I wasn't planning on breaking it. I'm around 30 words per minute now.

I can't seem to understand people's problems with touch-typing.

I thought it was fairly simple to learn, even with my old habits of just throwing my hands somewhere on the keyboard and hitting shit until it was the right letter.

Not to brag or anything, but I could probably slap my nuts on the keyboard and get higher than 30 correct WPM.

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE MY NUTS

I can touch type fairly well, but I still need to hit the backspace key, and I still look for some of the lessor used keys.

I didn't look at the keyboard once while typing this.

I'm quite surprised at the amount of people who touch-type, considering we're a generation that didn't have typing courses.

Did cecil become a paladin yet

Whoa... the fuck is happening here?
